In 2019, I was walking to my car at night, and I started to feel unsafe.  I was holding my car keys, with my ignition key between my fingers. I thought… “What am I really going to do here??”  Bop an angry criminal in the nose with a blunt ignition key, and a fistful of keys?? That’s not going to deter them, and I am going to hurt my hand. 

 Later that year, I took a trip to California. I was given just a fob for my rental car. I realized that most self defense weapons are designed to be attached to a keychain. 

Having spent 25 years in the beauty business, the idea of having a hair comb that could double as a self defense weapon seemed like a great idea. It would be easier to access than keys, and could be left in many places, as many people do with ponytail holders or scrunchies. 

We know that frequently, offenders are apprehended but not convicted because of lack of evidence. DNA retrieval is essential for taking criminals off of the streets and ensuring justice for the victims.

 I started working with an engineer to design a nearly indestructible hair comb with DNA reservoirs.  We focused on the comfort of the grip, ease of placing it in or out of hairstyles, and strength of the comb itself when striking during testing.  Five years later, My comb is here for you. The metallic finish is for visibility. It is lightweight and travels with ease.
